'Tides of Balance' Marine SABRES Documentary

We are delighted to present a new documentary based on our project work in the Northeast Atlantic, Macronesia, and the Tuscan Archipelago.
Produced by the fantastic team at LifeWatch ERIC and directed by Fabrizio Lecce,the documentary offers a perspective on the intertwined relationship between people and the sea, on the impact of climate change on fisheries, the pressures of tourism, and the effort to find a balance between conservation and economic needs.
Tides of Balance follows Marine SABRES scientists and the coastal communities they connect with across these three regions as they work to understand and respond to the forces reshaping marine ecosystems today.
Through interviews, fieldwork and landscape imagery, the documentary explores critical issues such as the impact of climate change on fisheries, the pressures of tourism, and the delicate effort to reconcile conservation with economic needs. From shifting fisheries in the Arctic to the strain of tourism on Mediterranean and Atlantic islands, each chapter reveals the fragile balance between protecting the environment and sustaining local communities.
